Eternal Life Is Quality as Well as Quantity

Seedling — an early exploration

•2 min

We have been created for more than just to get through life and meet God on the other side. It is clear In scripture that God has plans for the world and for humanity that ultimately end in our good. The “eternal” life that Jesus offers is not just a description of Quantity but of Quality.

Jesus’ announcement of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God was announcing that one day the world will be fully brought into line with God’s will for creation. He was also announcing that the Kingdom of God was “At hand”(Matthew 10:7), near, as close as the air you breathe.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to live in awareness of both of these realities:

  1. God’s Kingdom is arriving – We work with God to bring about his will in the world, looking forward to the day when Jesus returns and Makes all things new
  2. God’s Kingdom is here - To be alive in the world created by Yahweh is a gift and there are blessings all around us if we have eyes to see. This is amplified for christians filled with the holy spirit as God invites us to allow him to break down the Guilt and Shame that hold us back from receiving God’s blessing here and now.
